Vessels is the sophomore album by the American electronic rock band Starset.

Begun in 2015, the album was released a year after its predecessor Transmissions and features a somewhat heavier sound. Employing elements from genres like djent in addition to the band's signature electronic-heavy sound, Vessels achieved significantly more mainstream attention and critical praise than Transmissions, with its second single Monster peaking at #2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in 2017.

A deluxe version of the album, titled Vessels 2.0, was released in 2018, featuring a cover of a Type O Negative song, Love You to Death.

CD Booklet[]

The album's first edition came with both a list of definitions for the word "vessel", as well as an introductory letter from Dr. Aston Wise. The letter is as follows:

Dear Listener,

Thank you for purchasing this music. By supporting STARSET you are also helping to further the efforts of The Starset Society as we continue to bring scientific awareness to the greater public. For that I offer my humble gratitude.

I know that quite a bit of time has passed since you last heard from me and our presence may have appeared to wither. Rest assured, this was a practical necessity. We were behind the scenes regrouping and retooling the Society to meet and ever-expanding purpose—the results of which you will see more of in the coming months.

As the Society has grown, our reach into various sources of information has grown along with it. Each day, new technologies are coming online, many with important philosophical caveats causing us to raise questions. How we answer those questions will shape our future.

What new questions will STARSET help us ask the public?

We asked ourselves this and quickly realized that focussing on just one topic was not enough. We needed to expand. After much consideration, the Society and I have chosen a series of four important programs for STARSET that we feel display many of our central concerns as we press on. It is our intention that as we move forward, these programs will help you become more acclimated with The Starset Society and our purpose—and quite possibly your very future.

MORE INFORMATION SOON.

Always moving forward,

Dr. Aston Wise
